20 www.townofcary.org Special Interests Babysitting Safely (age 11-14) Be prepared and knowledgeable as an effective babysitter who can care for someone's child. Skills include first aid and safety, an overview of CPR, how to use an EpiPen, as well as how to understand developmental stages. Following a written and skills test, participants will receive a completion certificate. Instructor is a registered pediatric nurse. Location: Fred G. After the completion of the course, participants will be certified in babysitting. Location: Herbert C. You will be taught how to program by making our 5 apps and by the end of this course you will be making your own! No prior programming experience needed. Laptop (windows or mac), a google account and your creativity required! Location: Herbert C. Young Community Center Instructor: Vicki Jones Fees: $110(R) $133(N) (8 classes) 92522 Mon Feb 1-Mar 28 6-7:30 p.m. (no class Mar 7) ACT Math Test Prep (age 13-17) This class focuses exclusively on the six content areas covered by the ACT Math Test: pre-algebra, elementary algebra, intermediate algebra, coordinate geometry, plane geometry, and trigonometry. Students will learn concepts, practice actual ACT math problems, learn ACT test-taking tips, and build their overall confidence in math. Location: Herbert C. Young Community Center Instructor: Bobby Picha Fees: $157(R) $187 (6 classes) 92309 Sat Feb 6-Mar 12 2-4 p.m. SAT Math Prep Course (age 13-17) The focus will be on direct instruction and problem-solving for the new SAT. This six- week course includes test-taking strategies and SAT math concepts. Possibly gain 100- 200 points on the math section and get the best chance to be accepted to the colleges you wish to attend. Location: Herbert C.
