In the three classes, you will learn: 1) the basics of the Macintosh operating system, including file system, menus and preferences, 2) using the included applications and 3) using the online Mac App Store, and other trusted sources, to obtain applications and the best ways to purchase a Mac. You will be provided with the course slides for your later reference. Bring your Mac laptop. Fees: $15(R) $20(N) (3 classes) 89920 M/W/F Mar 7–11 1:30–4 p.m. Getting to know Your iPhone This course will teach you how to get the most out of your Apple iPhone, including basic set up, making phone calls, and more advance features, such as, 'Do Not Disturb', and using the iPhone as a Personal Hotspot. Introduction to iPad, iPhone & iPod Touch, The Basics Although devices similar to these iOS devices are made by several manufacturers, this course will focus on products from Apple to illustrate their capabilities and underlying concepts. This course will show you how to set up these devices and provide a brief overview of the many applications (apps) available. Bring your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch. 89916 Wed Jan 13 1:30–4 p.m. 89917 Wed Mar 16 1:30–4 p.m. 89918 Wed May 11 1:30–4 p.m. Getting to know Siri Siri is an Apple iPhone and iPad personal assistant app. It uses natural language to answer questions, make recommendations, and send requests to services such as OpenTable, Google Maps, TaxiMagic and more. Google (via Android) has introduced a similar app and Microsoft will be adding one to Windows 10. A Computer Learning Public Computer There is a public computer located in the library for seniors (age 50+) to use for practicing what they have learned in SeniorNet classes or just to surf the internet! Sign-in is required. All information must be stored on your own flash drive as the computer will not save your information (no printer available).
