Creating ACTIVE Retirement Years (919) 469-4081 35 Education AARP Driver Safety Program This new version of the AARP Driver Safety program was designed to help you drive smarter. A review of safety strategies, rules of the road, knowing your vehicle, and common sense driving tips will equip you with the skills to be a safer driver. Cost for AARP members is $15, $20 nonmembers (nonmembers pay $15 at registration and give the additional $5 to the instructor at the beginning of class). Location: Classroom 302 Instructor: Elwood Beach Fees: $15 (per person) 89827 Fri Apr 15 1:30–5:30 p.m. Dog Obedience 101 (age 16 & up) Learn the importance of your role as leader and teach your dog self-control. Your dog learns sit, down, come, stay and walking on a loose leash without pulling, resulting in improved behavior. Course is for dogs 3 months and older. For more, visit www.dreamdogsnc.com. Location: Bond Park Community Center Instructor: Robina Thornton Fees: $125(R) $155(N) (6 classes) 89732 Wed Jan 6–Feb 10 7–8 p.m. 89733 Wed Mar 2–Apr 6 7–8 p.m. 90626 Wed Apr 27–Jun 1 7–8 p.m. Advanced Dog Obedience (age 16 & up) A class for dogs of any age that know (but may not always comply) with basic commands. By adding distractions and practicing off leash, your dog's self-control improves while confirming your leadership. Class concludes with the American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification test. All for you to borrow! You may check out three books on tape, CDs or movies for up to 10 days. Stop by to check out this growing resource for area senior citizens! Also, if you have books on tape, CDs or videos (DVD or VHS) you are no longer using, consider donating them to the Cary Senior Center! Why Register for Programs? We ask every brochure season that you register for any and all programs for the following reasons: 1. We can put enough chairs out to include everyone. 2. If an instructor is sick, we can call to let you know. 3. If we have severe weather and cancel an activity, we can call you. 4. We have your emergency information. 5. We order enough food and supplies. 6. We will call if you do not show up to check on you. 7. We will call to remind you about certain programs you registered for! The benefits of signing up are numerous. Many of our programs fill quickly. Please register for the waitlist if a program is full; we may add more courses.
