REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org 99 SPORTS PART TWO Baseball Camps and Clinics USA Baseball National Training Complex The USA Baseball National Training Complex (NTC) is a Town of Cary Athletic Facility located at Thomas Brooks Park. Along with hosting many college teams, tournaments, showcases and high school teams, the National Training Complex is also home to USA Baseball. USA Baseball is the national governing body of Baseball. The USA Baseball NTC is also home to the Town of Cary's Instructional Baseball programs. Listed below are the program offerings for the Winter/Spring season. For more information on programs or the National Training Complex please call, (919) 387-5844. Youth Baseball Hitting Clinic (age 5-7) This clinic is designed to teach up-and-coming players proper hitting techniques and helps current players by providing techniques to sharpen their skills during the season. Parents are encouraged to participate. Location: USA Baseball National Training Complex Instructors: Town of Cary Baseball Instructors Fees: $27(R) $35(N) (1 class) 92303 Sun Feb 28 1-2:30 p.m. 92304 Sat Mar 19 10:30 a.m.-noon Youth Baseball Fielding Clinic (age 5-7) Participants will learn how to become comfortable fielding ground balls and fly balls. Participants will play developmental games and learn drills to enhance their fielding abilities. Protective equipment is encouraged. Little to no experience is recommended. Location: USA Baseball National Training Complex Instructors: Town of Cary Baseball Instructors Fees: $27(R) $35(N) (1 class) 92290 Sun Feb 28 3-4:30 p.m. 92291 Sat Mar 19 9-10:30 a.m. Basics of Throwing Clinic (age 5-7) This program will teach how to properly throw the baseball in order to throw more accurately and with more strength. Proper throwing mechanics also reduce the chance of injury to the throwing arm. Parents are encouraged to participate. Location: Thomas Brooks Park Instructors: Town of Cary Baseball Instructors Fees: $10(R) $13(N) (1 class) 92288 Sun Mar 6 1-2 p.m. 92289 Sun Mar 6 2:30-3:30 p.m. Quidditch (age 11-17) Quidditch is coming to Cary...again! This program is designed to teach the fundamentals behind the United States Quidditch version of Muggle Quidditch. Participants will also learn each of the four positions that are played in the Harry Potter version of Quidditch in a series of practices and games. Location: Fred G. Bond Metro Park Instructor: Dylan Meyer Fees: $19(R) $25(N) (16 classes) 92257 Mon, Wed Mar 28-May 18 5:15-6:45 p.m. Badminton Serve N Play Youth Badminton Training—Beginner/Intermediate (age 7-15) This is an introductory course to the game of badminton and is appropriate for kids who have never attended a Serve N Play training program or kids who want to continue to improve on the basic skills. Rackets required (or are available to purchase at the first class). Location: Bond Park Community Center Fees: $98(R) $128(N) (10 classes) 91188 Sat Jan 16-Apr 2 6:15-7:15 p.m. Serve N Play Youth Badminton Training—Intermediate/Advanced (age 7-15) This is a course for players who have previously attended a Serve N Play training program. Students must be able to serve and rally with consistency. The class is a continuation of the introductory badminton program and will focus on more advanced skill sets and game tactics.
