Rodwell Town Hall Gallery Thursday, March 24-Monday, May 23 Artist Reception: Friday, April 29 | 6-8 p.m. Medium: Encaustic painting North Carolina native Dianne T. Rodwell first began painting with wax in 1986. Her works have won national and international awards and have been collected worldwide. She teaches modern approaches to the ancient Grecian art of painting with molten beeswax at Jerry's Artarama and in private workshops conducted in her Raleigh Artspace studio of 28 years. Young Community Center Gallery Thursday, March 24-Monday, May 23 Artist Reception: Friday, April 29 | 6-8 p.m. Medium: Oil Paintings The paintings in this exhibit are interpretations of the beautiful forms, colors, and moods of natural phenomena, as they vary by locale, season, and weather. The renderings of landscapes, waterscapes, and gardens are often inspired by scenes from North Carolina. March Cinc Hayes: Whimsical Travels Fred G. Bond Metro Park Community Center Tuesday, March 1- Saturday, April 30 Medium: Mixed Media This exhibit features colorful designs based on cities and inspirations from nature. Hayes has traveled all over the world and has lived in Norway, Key West, Colorado, Wyoming, Charleston, and San Francisco. He spent a year traveling for Crayola crayons, teaching kids art across the nation and Canada. He even showed Bill Gates' children how to make whales out of model clay in Washington state. Hayes has had his work on display in galleries and shows throughout Northern California as well as in the South. He has also had paintings on display at the world- famous Spoleto Festival in Charleston, SC. Clothesline Musings: Art Inspired By the Clothesline Cary Arts Center Wednesday, March 9-Sunday, April 3 Artist Reception: Friday, March 18 | 6-7:30 p.m. Performance Premiere of The Clothesline Muse Friday, March 18 | 7:30 p.m. This interactive exhibition is inspired by the grind and grace of domestic life. A diverse range of visual media is presented: fine art, photography, prints, sculptures, installations, and digital art created by artists' interpretations—literal, figurative, and abstract—of the clothesline, hand-washing and line-drying, clothesline games and memories, and the environmental impact of taking in the wash.
