Venturing where few photographers dare to go, Scott specializes in long-forgotten rural southern homesteads, including their architecture, landscapes, artifacts, and the abandoned American iron that has been left behind. Scott believes in the preservation of the structures, their contents, and their surrounding landscapes. Nothing is ever disturbed; it is always left as discovered. "What Have We Got to Lose?" Caring for Our Treasures: The Restoration of the Marcus Baxter Dry Portrait Tuesday, January 26 | 7:30 p.m. | Free Page-Walker Arts & History Center Painting Conservator Janet Hessling will discuss the conservation of the portrait of long-time Cary High School principal Dr. Marcus Dry and will explain how you can preserve your own art work and family heirlooms. The portrait of Dr. Dry, which was painted by Mabel Pugh in 1948, had been damaged and was very dirty before treatment. In its new frame, it now hangs in a place of honor at the Cary Arts Center.
