The 2nd annual Halloween Costume Dance Party in October was hosted by Cary Arts Center staff and Teen Council volunteers. Family fun for all included dancing, crafting and cookie decorating, as well as picture-taking at the selfie-wall. Applause! Cary Youth Theater contributed to the spirit of Halloween when they brought Sherlock Holmes to life in a spooky staging of "The Hound of the Baskervilles" in October. The Marvelous Music Mainstage Series continued with a presentation by cellist and songwriter Shana Tucker, while the Marvelous Music Family Series kicked off its season with a performance of Kid Power's Operation Lunchline 3-D. This interactive show helped kids learn about the benefits of nutrition. Koka Booth Amphitheatre Cary Diwali Festival Chinese Lantern Festival The 2016 season got underway early with the North Carolina Chinese Lantern Festival. This festival featured over 20 colorful displays created by Chinese artisans, including a 200 foot long dragon on Symphony Lake. Total attendance for this event was 52,482. On October 10, despite the rain, Koka Booth hosted the Diwali Festival. Over 8,000 people attended and a special presentation in honor of the 15th anniversary of both Hum Sub and Diwali ocurred. 2015 Concert Season The concert season ended with Chris Tomlin and over 4,100 people in attendance. Overall the national concerts were extremely successful with eight of the twelve concerts exceeding budget projections with attendance close to 50,000. Page-Walker Arts & History Center Sponsored by the Teen Steering Committee of the Friends of Page-Walker, a new program based on the successful "En Plein Aire" format was created for teen artists..."Paint the Page." Sixteen teens participated to capture the Page-Walker in pencil, oils, pastels, watercolors and charcoal. A panel of judges chose winner in several categories, and all of the participants were invited to attend a reception and awards ceremony. Over 600 people attended the Holiday Open House. There was cider and cookies, horse-drawn carriage rides, rambling Victorian carolers and holiday music with traditional instruments. The event included participation by the Victorian Carolers, the Cary Garden Club, Horsin' Around, the Friends of Page-Walker and the Triangle Folk Ensemble.
