INFRASTRUCTURE The Town's Updated Strategic Energy Action Plan was finalized with Council in December. The key performance indicators (KPI's) in this plan show an effective multi-departmental effort to reduce energy use, emissions, and cost from Town operations. Despite significant growth between 2012 and 2014 in both town operational square footage and citizens served, the total energy use grew by only 1%. Strategic Energy Action Plan Community Wildlife Habitat The Town has progressed very quickly on its path to national recognition as a Community Wildlife Habitat thus far achieving certifications of 237 homes, 6 schools, and 7 public spaces. Planning for the Wells Fargo Environmental Solutions for Communities Grant has begun. This project will be a pilot called the Cary Green Neighborhood Project that aims at extensively engaging and collaborating with the residents of 4-8 neighborhoods in the Town with the goal of nurturing these neighborhoods into champions of healthy, vibrant and sustainable communities. Wells Fargo Environmental Solutions C-Tran Fixed-Route Revenues only include passenger fare revenues collected on the bus and at the Town Hall Finance Window point of sale for local monthly passes (regular and reduced fares). This does not include Federal, State or Local forms of revenue that offset total costs of the Town's Transit System. Cary It Green Facebook page continues to be a multi-departmental communication effort allowing staff to connect with citizens about conservation programs and initiatives. The peak engagement for the quarter was 2,200 on November 4th and the page now has 1,044 Likes.
