We are operating under the 2015 IBT Certificate,
which will accommodate all of our forecasted water
resources needs through the year 2045. The NC
Division of Water Resources approved the
Compliance and Monitoring, Drought Management,
and Water Conservation Plans required by the
2015 IBT Certificate in July 2015. In May 2015, the
City of Fayetteville and Fayetteville's Public Works
Commission filed a petition against the NC
Environmental Management Commission and the
Department of Environment and Natural Resources
for a contested case hearing. The Towns of Cary
and Apex are now intervenors in the case and
responding to Fayetteville's discovery requests.
IBT Status
On September 15, 2015, the new Cary/Morrisville
Utility Agreement became effective. The new Utility
Agreement supersedes the previous Merger
Agreement and clarifies how the Town of Cary
manages its water, sewer and reclaimed water
utility system with respect to the Town of Morrisville
now that the utility system merger is complete.
