Bald Head Island, just a few minutes off the coast of North Carolina, is that island and the beauty of Bald Head is captured in the stunning photographs of Michael Ligett. ARTQUILTSvoices: Professional Art Quilters Alliance-South Page-Walker Arts & History Center Through Saturday, July 2 Medium: Fiber Arts/Mixed The exhibition of Art Quilts and fiber arts titled "Voices" communicate our feelings, our history, our dreams, and our images. Artists use the visual language to voice their unique points of view to the world. Using this metaphor, PAQA-South members will share their voices using the art quilt as their medium. Confronting personal loss and grief through their work, three artists embark on the journey of resolving the disquiet together. Afghanistan: A Country A People— Through the Eyes of the Men and Women of the U.S. Military (Part I) Cary Arts Center Principal's Hall Through Sunday, July 24 Artist Reception: Friday, May 27 | 6–9 p.m. Medium: Documentary Photography This traveling photo documentary exhibition was organized by the Arts Council of Wayne County (Goldsboro, NC), which is the home of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base and the 4th Fighter Wing. For the past decade, we have heard stories of far off land and war. The trials and triumphs of brave soldiers come to life in our minds; a wounded, yet beautiful, population emerges as a distant vision. The images included in this exhibition bring that distant vision of Afghanistan, the country, and its people home.
