Hales displays beautifully illustrative works about impermanence, impending disaster, and celestial terror portrayed in a dream-like state. Joe Lipka: A Winter Day, a Summer Morning Page-Walker Arts & History Center Thursday, July 7–Saturday, August 13 Artist Reception: Friday, July 29 | 6–8 p.m. Medium: Photography The artist states "I drove down Academy Street past a cottage I photographed more than 25 years ago. The light was so beautiful I dashed the days' plans and came back to photograph. There was neither preparation nor plan that day. There was beautiful light and that is sufficient." Nature: The Beauty of the Beast— Kathryn Green Patel Herbert C. Young Community Center Gallery Through Sunday, July 24 Artist Reception: Friday, May 27 | 6–8 p.m. The artist describes her exhibition of paintings Nature: The Beauty of the Beast as inspired by the world around us as well as the universe that is far past our grasp. Natural phenomena and disasters are beautiful and chaotic and are rarely captured in their entirety. These colorful paintings are an attempt to recreate some of that beauty, and the feeling it incurs. People and Places: Meera Goyal Town Hall Gallery Through Friday, July 22 Artist Reception: Friday, May 27 | 6–8 p.m. Meera Goyal enjoys exploring interesting and exciting subjects to paint. This show will feature selections from her travels, places, people and natural world. Portrait Group of Cary Cary Senior Center Monday, May 23–Friday, Jun 17 Artist Reception: Friday, May 27 | 6–8 p.m. Media: Mixed The Portrait Group of Cary is a small group of portrait artists that meets once a week in the evening for two hours to draw/paint from a live model. No membership is required, just a minimal fee for the model or purchase a membership pass from the Town. The skill level within the group spans from the advanced amateur to the professional.
