Participants in Free Press Day who have created prints are invited to add to this collage. Bibelot (bib-lou): n. an attractive or curious trinket Page-Walker Arts & History Center Thursday, July 7–Saturday, August 13 Artist Reception: Friday, July 29 | 6–8 p.m. Medium: Beadwork Janine LeBlanc makes attractive and curious trinkets. Using 11o seed beads and an off-loom peyote stitch technique, she explores notions such as the answers to all of the questions in the universe. Resilience: The Divine Power of Black & White by Julie Niskanen Skolozynski Cary Arts Center Gallery Friday, July 29–Sunday, September 18 Artist Reception: Friday, July 29 | 6–9 p.m. Gallery talk 6:30 p.m. Medium: Charcoal drawings, mezzotint prints, and intaglio printmaking techniques Showcasing charcoal drawings, mezzotints, and other intaglio printmaking techniques, the images in Ms. Skolozynski's work deal with the miraculous complexities of nature. The small, delicate forms are shown in a new context, illustrating the power and meaning of their existence. These organic objects suggest the rhythms and resiliency of nature and are symbolic of our journey in life and our connection to the divine. Student Teacher Staff Show Cary Senior Center Wednesday, June 22–Friday, July 22 Artist Reception: Friday, June 24 | 3–5 p.m. Media: Mixed (two- and three-dimensional) Two pieces of art per participant in this show are allowed. All participants should be students, teachers, or staff from the Cary Senior Center. Artwork is accepted at the Cary Senior Center between 1–3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22. There is no cost to enter this show; no monetary prizes will be awarded. A People's Choice Award will be chosen by visitors to the Cary Senior Center and awarded on July 22. The Common Wall: PoNC Cary Art Center Principal's Hall (in conjunction with PRINTOCRACY exhibition at Town Hall) Friday, July 29–Sunday, September 18 Artist Reception: Friday, July 29 | 6–9 p.m. The wall of the Principal's Hall will be covered by "collaborative collage prints" by the Printmakers of NC and prints made by community participants in Free Press Day will be invited to add to the collage. The Common Wall Printmakers create images on a matrix or plate so that they may be reproduced. The printmakers in PRINTOCRACY (Town Hall) have printed variations from their plates. Free Press Day Saturday, July 30, 1–4 p.m. | Free Cary Arts Center The community is invited to do hands-on printmaking with the assistance of NC printmakers, using relief plates of wood or linoleum, silk screens, stencils, and stamps. Inks and paper will be provided. Participants may bring a T-shirt to be printed.
