Students will learn advanced techniques and processes of turning wood on a lathe. A limited amount of turning stock is available for purchase from the Cary Arts Center. It is built from a single piece of wood using predominately hand tools. Learn precision techniques, including layout, hand- sawing, and chiseling. Learn shooting in manual mode, finding good light, and understanding composition, among other important skills. Includes two hours for shooting and review with instructor. Must bring your own camera— DSLR or mirrorless cameras preferred. It combines power tool and hand tool techniques. Advanced skills that will be practiced include dovetailing, mortise and tenon joinery, and panel glue-ups.
