Youth Theatre programs explore and develop theatre skills and encourage participants to share ideas, think creatively, and work collaboratively. Our curriculum includes classes and camps in creative drama, acting, musical theatre, and technical theatre/design and offers multiple performance opportunities throughout the year. Come "Be Somebody" with Applause! All Applause! programs are held at Cary Arts Center unless otherwise noted. Acting/Performance Curtain Call (age 12–18) Make your next audition your best one yet! Learn how to apply acting techniques to make cold readings dynamic and learn how to practice adjustments, projection, and more. Participation in this program does not guarantee a role in any Applause! production. Instructor: Barbette Hunter Fees: $89(R) $116(N) (6 classes) 94515 Mon Jun 13–Jul 25 6–8 p.m. (no class Jul 4) Dance The dance program offers a variety of classes in many different dance styles. Open to participants of all skill levels, classes build strength, flexibility, musicality, and coordination and inspire self-esteem and creativity. Creative Movement (age 2–5) Creative Movement classes focus on music and rhythm, coordination, and balance for preschool-age children. A great introduction to dance for your little one! PRE-BALLET Inspired by the beautiful arm positions and graceful movements of ballet, Pre-Ballet classes encourage creative expression. Story Book Ballet (age 2 ½-4) Each class begins with ballet techniques, followed by a story, and then dressing up in capes and tutus and dancing out the story. Each week will feature a different story, such as Alice In Wonderland and Peter the Rabbit. Location: Bond Park Community Center Instructor: Mercier School of Dance Fees: $37(R) $48(N) (4 classes) 94955 Sat Jul 2–22 10–10:30 a.m. Tiny Ballerinas (age 2 ½-4) We will do creative movement and utilize fun props, such as fairy wings, streamers, and balloons. We will follow the Dance'em syllabus. Location: Bond Park Community Center Instructor: Mercier School of Dance Fees: $37(R) $48(N) (4 classes) 94957 Sat Jul 2–22 11–11:30 a.m. c Performing Arts Discover your inner performer with classes in theater, music, and dance. A full credit will be granted upon receipt of a written request at least seven days prior to the first day of an art workshop, class, or camp. A $5 fee applies for a refund request.
