At one time a convenience and a strategic necessity, it now is also a feature of pleasure and recreation. This one time presentation will introduce the participant to the story and significance of the Inter-Coastal Waterway. From Coronations to great battles, births to deaths, the events and transitions of humans have been made into art forms. From the geologic forces that created NC's clay beds to the importance of clay and pottery in the colonial to post Civil War eras, and the role of clay and pottery in today's North Carolina economy. SHADES OF FREEDOM This single session presentation takes a look at the story of freedom in North Carolina, from the first settlers with enslaved and indentured servants to the Emancipation Proclamation, Jim Crow and Women's Suffrage. The participant will be presented with a review of the movements, acts and actions that have helped define freedom in North Carolina.
