Creating ACTIVE Retirement Years (919) 469-4081 9 Arts & Crafts DRAWING Become a believer that everyone can draw! Relax in a friendly, informal setting as you learn the beauty of pencil rendering. Emphasis is on total enjoyment with one-on-one instruction. Supply list at registration or on line. Calligraphy Introductory Workshop With these introductory workshops, students will learn a new Calligraphy lettering style with each session. The repetition of practicing a new style will improve your memory skills, while learning about the essential tools of calligraphy: India Ink, dip pens and a variety of pen nibs. Have fun designing and applying your new lettering style to note cards and other stationary projects. Sign up for one session or both. The use of tools and materials is included in a $3 supply fee payable to the instructor at the first day of class. Foundation principles, tool use and types, as well as more advanced topics such as perspective and atmosphere, will be covered. Instructor: George Wade Carmichael Fees: $55(R) $72(N) (5 classes) 94829 Tue Sep 6–Oct 11 1–3 p.m. (no class 9/27) 50 + The Art of Copper Enameling Learn the colorful techniques of the copper enamel process with easy step by step instructions to design unique copper pendants, fashion pins or a pair of earrings. Small pre- stamped copper pieces will be kiln fired by instructor during each workshop ready for completion and take home. The cost for colorants, basic metal components and one copper piece are included in the class fee. Additional copper pieces are available to purchase during the class for $1 each. Share ideas and create items from dishcloths to afghans to mittens and caps, which would make wonderful gifts. Help will be provided as needed. Location: Classroom 303 94161 Every Tue 1–3 p.m. (no meeting 12/27) Art can be messy! Bring an apron or cover shirt to protect your clothing! Make your own cards for every holiday!
