Clayton Piano Festival & Town of Cary present pianist Rachel Flowers Friday, October 14 | 7:30 p.m. Adults $20; Seniors & Students $15; Marvelous Music Season Ticket Holders $12 (On sale August 16) Multi-talented instrumentalist and composer Rachel Flowers was born 15 weeks premature and lost her eyesight as an infant due to Retinopathy of Prematurity. 20 years later, Rachel has brought home many awards as both a classical flutist and jazz pianist and has been featured on "60 Minutes." She will present a wide selection of her original compositions and covers of famous jazz and rock artists in a style uniquely hers. The Family Series The Cary Arts Center entertainment offerings also include a Family Series—family-friendly performances that can be enjoyed by young and old alike! All tickets are $8 each. Cary Ballet presents The Nutcracker Suite Saturday December 17 | 10 a.m. For Cary Ballet Company's one-hour holiday production, "The Nutcracker Suite," you will be treated to a condensed and delightful version of the beloved holiday classic that features the Sugarplum Fairy and an exclusive mini ballet demonstration by Cary Ballet's artistic director. Afterwards, join us for a special Ballerina Tea. You and your child can decorate and customize a teacup for a spot of tea and participate in a photo op with our featured ballerinas. Tickets for the Ballerina Tea are $10. Triangle Wind Ensemble presents Music in Motion Saturday, January 28 | 3 p.m. Directed by Evan Feldman Triangle Wind Ensemble invites families to a "moving experience," with music that makes you to want to sway to its lilt, march to its beat, clap your hands with joy, march to the beat, or do your own thing! "Feel the sound." This outstanding concert band will have you dancing in the aisles. Ken Lavigne Friday, February 17 | 7:30 p.m. Singer Ken Lavigne has charmed his way into the hearts of concert-goers across North America with his exciting blend of classical tenor sound and modern style. Joined by a four-piece ensemble, Lavigne takes his audience on a riveting and enchanting journey, retelling his personal campaign to sing at Carnegie Hall with the New York Pops. Told with spectacular songs and entertaining and hilarious stories, Lavigne embodies the spirit of the underdog: audacity, tenacity, and ultimately…triumph. Pump Boys & Dinettes Saturday, March 4 | 7:30 p.m. The "Pump Boys" sell high octane on Highway 57 somewhere between Frog Level and Smyrna, North Carolina. The "Dinettes," Prudie and Rhetta Cupp, run the Double Cupp Diner next door. Together they fashion an evening of country western songs that received unanimous raves on and off Broadway. With heartbreak and hilarity, they perform highly entertaining toe-tappers on guitars, piano, bass and, yes, kitchen utensils. Come early and enjoy Cary Youth Voices' performance in the lobby before the show. Balsam Range Friday, April 21 | 7:30 p.m. This Haywood N.C. bluegrass and acoustic group are winners of the 2014 International Bluegrass Music Association Entertainer of the Year and Vocal Group of the Year awards. The group infuses elements of jazz, country, gospel, swing and old-time music into their fresh sound, while the musicians' five distinct personalities create one remarkable musical experience.
