It combines power-tool and hand-tool techniques. Advanced skills that will be practiced include dovetailing, mortise and tenon joinery, and panel glue-ups. Students should have successfully completed Woodworking Basics or have a good understanding of woodworking machine use and safety practices before enrolling in the intermediate courses or technique workshops. LATHE, BEYOND BASICS This class is the next step to our introductory course. Students will learn more advanced techniques and processes of turning wood on a lathe. A limited amount of turning stock is available for purchase from the Cary Arts Center. Tools are available for use. Supplies are not included. In this course, you will make a loose, open-front jacket that you can wear comfortably year-round. Basic sewing machine techniques and shirt construction will be covered in our three lessons. We will learn techniques in machine sewing an easy, shaped ornament with a few hand-sewn touches. Must have some previous machine sewing experience. A supply list will be provided on your receipt.
