72 REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org OUTDOOR RECREATION PART TWO Boating Skills & Seamanship (age 14 & up) Presented by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, this course applies to new boat owners and experienced boaters wanting to expand their knowledge. Topics include nautical language, types of boats, powerboat handling, safety and legal requirements, navigation rules, inland boating, and more. Location: Cary Senior Center, Rm 302 Instructor: Ronald Sanders, Member of the Cary Flotilla of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Fees: $55 due to instructor at first class for textbook and handouts (10 classes) 97793 Mon Sep 19–Nov 21 6–8:30 p.m. Fishing Fishing opportunities are available year-round at Bond Lake. There is no charge to fish from shore. All NC fishing regulations apply. North Carolina requires anyone 16 or older to have a fishing license. For additional information concerning size and creel limits or to purchase a license, visit the NC Wildlife Resources Commission website at www.ncwildlife.org. Fishing League (11–17) Sign up for this summer fishing league and hone your angling skills. Members of US Angling will coach and instruct the group throughout the summer. Learn how to set up a fishing pole, bait a hook using live bait, cast a rod and reel, identify fish, and learn a little about safety and conservation. Bait and cane poles provided (while supplies last). Location: Fred G. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied on the boat by an adult and wear a personal flotation device (PFD). All participants renting sailboats, canoes, or kayaks must wear a PFD at all times. Prior experience is required for sailboat rentals. BOAT RENTAL HOURS Hours of operation are subject to change. April–May & September–October Weekends & Holidays (Labor Day) 10 a.m.–6 p.m. June–August Daily 9 a.m.–6 p.m. Holidays (July 4) 7 a.m.–6 p.m. Closed weekdays with the start of Wake County traditional school year. November–March Closed BOAT RENTAL FEES Boat Type Fee Pedal boat (4 person) $7 per ½ hour Rowboat $6 per hour Electric motor for rowboat $9 per use Canoe/Kayak $6 per hour Sailboat $11 per hour Private Boats Private boats may be used on Bond Lake during regular boat rental hours only.
