Summer camp expands into western Cary summer camps in June new participants individuals on a waitlist generated new revenue 4 66 22 $7,410 Senior Center Yard Sale The 10th annual yard sale drew over 1,200 shoppers and 162 volunteers logged 610 hours to raise over $7,770 for the area senior clubs and the Senior Center. This is the largest revenue ever for the event! "Volunteer Raleigh" which promotes volunteerism in Wake County, named the Cary Tennis Center the Volunteer Station for 2016! This award honors the Volunteer Sewing program that donated over 1,500 hats, lap quilts, dolls and other items to area hospitals and nursing homes. DID YOU KNOW? Community Center Programming Track-Out, Summer Day and Teen Adventure Camps served 763 participants bringing in a total revenue of $115,842 for the second quarter. Program revenue for Bond Park community center saw a 91% increase over the same period last year. Bond Park Community Center partnered with Cary Pickleball Association to offer the 4th annual Doubles Pickleball Tournament. Participation increased to 64 teams, including participants from South Carolina, Virginia and N.C. Bond Park Community Center Update AARP Tax Assistance assisted in preparing 1,450 state tax returns at Bond Park. This site is the 3rd largest in the state and the largest in the District, which includes Durham, Wake, Granville, and Franklin counties. Free yoga was offered at community centers and the Page Walker from sunrise to sunset as part of International Yoga Day. This event attracted 120 new participants. Dog Days of June was a partnership between the Town and Second Chance Pet Adoptions that offered a fun-filled day for dogs and their owners. The event had more than 40 vendors, 37 competitors and over 255 dogs were given rabies vaccinations. Participation for outdoor recreation participation increased by 22% and revenue increased by 10% compared to the same quarter in 2015. This increase is due to additional camp offerings. Outdoor Recreation Nature & Environmental Programs National Trails Volunteer Work Day set an all-time record of 108 volunteers, joining staff at Hemlock Bluffs for the annual event. Volunteers mulched Chestnut Oak Loop Trail, re-graveled the stairs on Swift Creek Trail, and refreshed the Recycle and Children's gardens. The Friends of Hemlock Bluffs and REI continue to provide financial support for this effort.
