5 40 YEARS OF ARTS & CRAFTS INTERACTIVE PUBLIC ART EXPERIENCE A Saturday morning, artist Michael Roy Layne, with the assistance of volunteers, will create Solar Wings, a winged creature of his own vision, made entirely of renewable materials, here for the duration of the festival. Guests can make and display their own small winged creatures using wire and colored tissue paper. Participants are encouraged to pick up their unique mementos at the close of each festival day. ARTIST GUILD DEMONSTRATIONS C D Three local arts guilds share their skills at the Herb Young Community Center. Learn about embroidery, leatherworks, and more with Twisted Threads Fiber Arts Guild, NC Gourd Society and Raleigh Leatherworks Guild. Professional Art Quilters Alliance, South hosts a hands-on quilting event in the Page-Walker Arts & History Center. PAGE-WALKER ARTS & HISTORY CENTER D Indulge in simpler times. At the Sister City's Beer Garden, enjoy a bratwurst with a beverage while relaxing to authentic German music. Chat with Friends of the Page- Walker and visit three gallery exhibitions: Flowers of France & Italy by Sonia Kane, Weight As Real by Peter Marin and the Orange: An International Mail Art Challenge presented by the Carolina Mixed Media Art Guild. Don't miss a special look back at Lazy Daze through the years! PLAY ZONE C Part of the HYCC celebration, Play Zone features kids sporting activites in the Community Center gym. Open daily until 5 p.m. Play Z ne 25 TH ANNIVERSARY AND RE-DEDICATION OF THE HERB YOUNG COMMUNITY CENTER Join us at the 25th anniversary/re-dedication at the opening of Lazy Daze with programs throughout the week. Located in the heart of Downtown Cary, the facility has served the town and citizens as a center of activity for a quarter century. Rededication Ribbon Cutting & Timeline Wall Unveiling Sunday at 12:30 p.m., begins at the Lazy Daze stage adjacent to the Community Center and resumes in front of the building. Refreshments will be served. C
