OVERFLOWS
A SANITARY SEWER OVERFLOW (SSO) OCCURS WHEN
SEWAGE IS UNINTENTIONALLY RELEASED FROM THE
TOWN'S SEWER SYSTEM, HOMES, OR BUSINESSES
BEFORE IT REACHES THE TREATMENT PLANT. TYPICALLY
CAUSED BY A BLOCKAGE FROM DEBRIS, GREASE, TREE
ROOTS, VANDALISM OR MALFUNCTION. OVERFLOWS
ARE UNHEALTHY AND CAN BE DESTRUCTIVE TO THE
ENVIRONMENT AND COSTLY TO CLEAN UP.
