WATER RECLAMATION FACILITIES THE TOWN OF CARY OPERATES THE NORTH CARY, SOUTH CARY, AND THE WESTERN WAKE REGIONAL WATER RECLAMATION FACILITIES (WRF). The facilities have a total capacity to treat up to 42.8 million gallons of wastewater per day (MGD) and are staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. Using a biological process, each facility removes nutrients such as phosphorus and nitrogen from the wastewater. The facilities are regulated by federal and state permits that set limits to ensure treated wastewater is safely discharged back into waterways. The following charts are a summary of permit compliance for the reporting period of July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016 (FY2016). We are pleased to report that no permit limit violations occurred during this reporting period. EVER WONDER WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR HOME'S WATER AFTER YOU USE IT? Tour any one of our three water reclamation facilities and discover the fascinating journey your wastewater takes before being safely returned to the environment.
