RailHawks at WakeMed Soccer Park The RailHawks began their fall season in July with attendance during regular season reaching 25,092. In addition, the RailHawks hosted an exhibition match featuring West Ham United from the Barclay's English Premier League with an attendance reaching 9,372. WakeMed hosted eight "cause runs" during the quarter with attendance of 1,779 USA Baseball National Training Complex The International Olympic Committee approved baseball to be officially added to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. This means that the USA Olympic team will train at USA Baseball. Cary Tennis Park In July, the USTA National Zone Team Championships were held at the Park. 120 players in the Boys & Girls 14 and under from the Southern, Middle States and Mid-Atlantic sections were in Cary competing. In August, the Tennis Park hosted the NC Summer State Closed Championships with over 450 participants ages 7-18 from across the state to compete. And in September, the Atlantic Tire Championships, an ATP professional event, was hosted at the Tennis Park. The new lights on the courts allowed for several evening functions to be scheduled, such as a Tennis on Campus college social and a Cary Chamber event. On finals weekend, the Tennis Park also hosted the Duke University James Bonk Invitational with 16 men's and 16 women's college teams represented from across the country. Event sponsorship increased from last year and ticket sales held steady. The event will show a net revenue again. Construction on the covered tennis courts continues. The roof is anticipated to be complete this fall. Herb Young Community Center: Celebrating 25 Years On August 28, the community center celebrated with a ribbon-cutting and timeline wall unveiling attended by the Mayor and Council. The time wall contained signature events and programs, a biography of Herb Young and other memorable events. The celebration continued with a customer appreciation week offering free activities and classes highlighting the facility. Youth Sports Increased 5.9%
