OUTDOOR RECREATION PART TWO 82 REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org Knot Tying (age 10 & up) Learn a variety of knots used in climbing, camping, and scouts. Participants will learn square knot, figure eight, figure eight follow through, and figure eight on a bight, bowline, taut line, and more. Materials are provided. Location: Bond Park Community Center Instructor: Program Staff Fees: $14(R) $18(N) (2 classes) 101427 Tue Jan 24–31 7–8 p.m. Learn to Belay (age 11–17) Learn how to belay and keep a person safe from falling while they climb to heights of 35 ft. using a safety rope. Harnesses and helmets provided. Location: Fred G. Bond Metro Park, Ropes Course Shelter Instructor: Program Staff Fees: $32(R) $42(N) (1 class) 101521 Sat Feb 25 10 a.m.–noon Learn to Rappel (age 11–17) Have you ever wondered how to use ropes to descend down a rock face or vertical surface? This class will provide participants with the basics of rappelling using the 35-foot Challenge Ropes Course. Location: Fred G. Bond Metro Park, Ropes Course Shelter Instructor: Program Staff Fees: $32(R) $42(N) (1 class) 101522 Sat Feb 25 1–3 p.m. Zip Line in Bond Park (age 11 & up) Ride the 35-feet-high, 200-feet-long zip line in Bond Park! Harnesses, helmets, and other safety gear are used to keep participants safe. Location: Fred G. Bond Metro Park, Ropes Course Shelter Instructor: Program Staff Fees: $26(R) $34(N) (1 class) AGE 11–17 101523 Sat Mar 4 10 a.m.-noon AGE 18 & UP 101524 Sat May 20 1–3 p.m. Zip Line for Seniors (age 55 & up) Ride the 35-feet high, 200-feet-long zip line in Bond Park.
