SPORTS PART TWO 108 REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org Softball Spring Training Clinic (age 8–17) Our annual kick-off to the spring season! We review basic mechanics and fundamentals of the game—focusing on throwing, catching, fi elding, hitting, base running, speed, and agility. Spring training is great for players of all levels as a way to get ready for the upcoming season. Location: Thomas Brooks Park, Fields 5 & 6 Instructor: Town of Cary Softball Instructors Fees: $15 (1 class) AGE 8–10 100941 Sat Mar 18 10 a.m.–noon AGE 11–14 100942 Sat Mar 18 1–3 p.m. AGE 14–17 100943 Sat Mar 18 3:30–5:30 p.m. Softball Pitching & Catching Clinic: Beginners (age 9–13) Pitchers will learn the windmill pitch, with an emphasis on throwing a fastball, good stride, plant and drag for pitching, and pitching plane/power line. For catchers, this clinic will introduce proper positioning, glove work, blocking, movement to the ball, throw downs, and footwork. Location: Mills Park, Softball Field Instructor: Town of Cary Softball Instructors Fees: $30(R) $39(N) (1 class) 101131 Sun Mar 5 1–3 p.m. Softball Hitting Skills & Techniques: Intermediate (age 10–14) If you are an experienced player, this is the clinic for you! Learn to improve your swing to accomplish stronger contact, hitting placement, and bat speed. Review methods for getting a good jump out of the batter's box and reducing your sprint speed from home to fi rst base. Location: Thomas Brooks Park, Field 6 Instructors: Town of Cary Softball Instructors Fees: $30(R) $39(N) (1 class) 100940 Sun Mar 19 3:30–5:30 p.m. Softball Catching & Throwing: Beginners (age 7–12) We will review the basics of throwing and catching a softball! If you are a beginner softball player and want to get off on the right foot, this clinic is for you. We will break down proper throwing technique so that it is easy to learn. We will teach you how to catch a ball consistently and safely. Location: Mills Park Softball Field Instructors: Town of Cary Softball Instructors Fees: $15(R) $19(N) (1 class) 101136 Sat Mar 4 1–2:30 p.m. Softball Hitting Skills & Techniques: Beginner (age 8–12) Participants will learn how to develop a sound swing and learn fundamental hitting mechanics. We will be breaking down the swing and developing good habits from the start to the follow through. Location: Thomas Brooks Park, Field 6 Instructors: Town of Cary Softball Instructors Fees: $30(R) $39(N) (1 class) 100938 Sun Mar 19 1–3 p.m. NEW! Town of Cary 1-on-1 softball lessons are offered year round and are intended to develop, enhance, and build upon your player's skill level. Due to overwhelming popularity of lessons; available dates are released on the 25th of every month for lessons being held the following month. They will be posted on EZ-REG web and will be available on a fi rst come, fi rst serve basis. Please follow the prompts to indicate the type of lesson you would like. Lessons can be 30 minutes ($25) or an hour long ($40). Anyone can sign up for a 30 minute lesson; hour long lessons are viable for players age 10–17.
