Learn fundamentals behind the United States version of "Muggle Quidditch" and each of the four positions that are played in the Harry Potter version of Quidditch in a series of practices and scrimmages. Bond Metro Park, Spillway Instructor: NC State Quidditch Team Fees: $25(R) $33(N) (16 classes) 96709 Mon, Wed Mar 27–May 17 5:15–6:45 p.m. Volleyball Girls Volleyball League (age 11–16) Volleyball leagues for girls age 11–13 and 14–16 will play on Mon, Wed and/or Thu nights (usually 1–2 nights per week) beginning May 16. The season will last until mid- to late July. Our league is recommended for those who have participated in other volleyball leagues or Town of Cary Volleyball skills classes. Those without experience in organized leagues should consider the Volleyball Skills Classes beginning in April. Registration is for individuals only. Location: Bond Park Community Center (primarily); Green Hope Elementary School (occasionally) Fees: $50(R) $75(N) 99449 Age 11–13 99450 Age 14–16 Softball Pitching & Catching Clinic: Intermediate (age 11–17) For pitchers, this clinic reinforces proper pitching mechanics and introduces drills to increase pitch speed and power, proper grip, spin and body rotation, and movement pitches. For catchers, this clinic will review solid positioning, framing, blocking and footwork, as well as bunt coverage, diving for balls, throwing from the knee, fast pops, and throw downs. Location: Mills Park, Softball Field Instructor: Town of Cary Softball Instructors Fees: $30(R) $39(N) (1 class) 101128 Sun Mar 5 3:30–5:30 p.m. Bunting & Slapping: Intermediate (age 12–17) "Small ball" is a big part of the game of softball. In this clinic, we will focus on bunt techniques, slapping, and defense for each. We will talk about game situations that call for bunts and slaps and the infield defense to respond. Learn how to get a good jump out of the batter's box; effective running techniques; game situations that call for different approaches to the base; how to effectively get under the tag; how to position yourself smartly; and how to create hesitation and errors.
