OUTDOOR RECREATION PART TWO REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org 81 Challenge Course The Challenge Course is an outdoor learning facility that encourages individuals and groups to see their potential through a graduated progression of challenging activates that foster personal growth and improved teamwork. Low Course programs are located on or near the ground and focuses on teambuilding, problem solving, and fun. High Course programs take place at heights up to 35 feet and offers challenges that include swinging bridges, cable walks, rope swings, a zip line and more. Anyone of average health and 10 years or older may participate. The experience is tailored to the team and for those with special needs. Programs are great for youth and adults, schools, scouts, sports teams, birthday parties, family fun, corporate teambuilding and more. A minimum of eight (8) is required to make a reservation. There is no charge to fish from shore. All North Carolina fishing regulations apply. North Carolina requires anyone 16 or older to have a fishing license. For additional information concerning size and creel limits or to purchase a license, visit the NC Wildlife Resources Commission website at www.ncwildlife.org. After School Fishing (age 11–17) Learn the basics of freshwater fishing. Angling for bass, bluegills, catfish, and carp, as well as cleaning and cooking your catch are discussed. You will learn the proper way to bait hooks using a variety of bait and the basics of casting fly rods, close-faced reels, and cane poles. Bring your own rod/reel or use provided equipment while supplies last. Location: Fred G. Bond Metro Park, Boathouse Instructor: Bryan Craddock Fees: $15(N) $20(R) (1 class) 99919 Tue May 9 4:30–6:30 p.m. Introduction to Fly Fishing (age 13 & up) This half day course provides basic instruction on fly fishing. Participants will receive instruction and information including: casting, knots, equipment, fishing strategies, fly selection, and proper fly casting technique. Rod, reel, and lines are provided. Each class begins with a 45-minute how to session followed by a self-guided hike in search of control points. An adult must register with children under the age of 14. Location: Fred G.
