Children's Day Festival of Cary Saturday, April 22 | 11 a.m.–5 p.m. | Free Fred G. Bond Metro Park, Sertoma Amphitheatre Enjoy dance, music, and crafts as we celebrate the diversity of all children! This kid-focused festival is organized by the American Turkish Association of NC and Sister Cities Association of Cary. The festival will feature stage performances by a wide range of children's dance groups, games, international food, and hands-on crafts activities. Theatre Café Tuesday, April 4 | 7–9 p.m. | Free The Cary Theater Enjoy short, informal, theatre-related presentations followed by engaging discussions with theatre professionals. Grab a drink or snack from BREW at The Cary Theater on your way in! Best suited for adults/young adults. Cary Road Race Saturday, April 8 | 8:30 a.m. Pre-Registration: $12 recreational, $15 competitive Race-Day: $15 recreational, $20 competitive Koka Booth Amphitheatre The 39th Annual Cary Road Race is a family event that includes a 5K, a 10K, and a 1-mile fun run. The course is a challenging route over rolling city asphalt streets and around the lake at Koka Booth Amphitheatre. Registration opens December 1, 2016. Breakfast with the Bunny Saturday, April 8 | 8:30–9:30 a.m. Age 10 & up $4; age 3-9 $3; age 2 & under free with ticket Cary Senior Center Before you go hunting for eggs, join the Easter Bunny for a delicious continental breakfast. The Easter Bunny is available for pictures/videos for ticket holders during this time. Tickets go on sale March 6 at the Herbert C. Young Community Center. This is a Cary Teen Council fundraising event. Easter Egg Hunt Saturday, April 8 | 10 a.m. | Free Rain date: Sunday, April 9 | 1 p.m. Fred G. Bond Metro Park The Town of Cary's 26th Annual Easter Egg Hunt features a large egg hunt area for ages 10 & under. After scouting the field for toy-filled eggs, join Flow Circus for an entertaining magic show loaded with laughter and audience participation. Bring your Easter Basket and come early to ensure that you arrive in time for the start of your hunt. EGG HUNT (age 10 & under) 10 a.m. ENTERTAINMENT 10 a.m.–1 p.m. MAGIC SHOW 11 a.m. Nazim Hikmet Poetry Competition Submissions for the 8th annual Nazim Hikmet Poetry Competition are now open. The deadline is January 15, 2017. This Festival is highly regarded and attracts many established and emerging poets from around the world. NAZIM HIKMET POETRY FESTIVAL Sunday, April 9 | 1–7 p.m. | Free Page-Walker Arts & History Center Celebrate poetry at this annual festival with poets, scholars, and lovers of poetry. Meet the Nazim Hikmet Poetry Competition winners; listen to poetry readings and keynote speakers, then enjoy a reception and hangout with poets from around the world.
