CHAPTER 5:ENGAGE Demand for Robust Arts and Culture Offerings Cary benefits from a wide offering of cultural and arts ac vi es, made possible through partnerships between the Town and more than 60 arts and cultural organiza ons. Cultural ac vi es and ameni es are not only rich cultural offerings that enhance quality of life, but have important economic impacts. Cary is home to several excellent cultural arts facili es including: • Cary Arts Center • Page-Walker Arts and History Center • The Cary • Koka Booth Amphitheatre • Sertoma Amphitheatre in Bond Park Building off of these facili es and Cary's many cultural arts programs, the Town has opportuni es to con nue and expand its cultural offerings for current and future residents of the community. Future challenges for the cultural arts include: Built in 2001, Cary's Koka Booth Amphitheatre is located on a 14 acre property with hardwoods and pines and hosts community events and world class performances. • Providing programs for growing western quadrant of Cary. • Con nued emphasis on Downtown Cary will include a focus on the arts, culture venues with a feature on fes vals and events to a ract visitors and support local business. • In the coming years, the Town will work to protect, preserve, and reuse its historic structures as a connec on to its rich cultural heritage. • As the Town will con nues to integrate art into the public realm, the challenge will be to install art that is both accepted by the general public and deemed cu ng edge and unique.
