Art On Location (age 11–16) Connect with our Town as we stroll from the Cary Arts Center through beautiful Downtown Cary to fi nd inspiring locations for drawing. Students may choose to bring spending money to purchase a snack from a local store. This camp involves a lot of walking. Instructor: Kim Marchesseault Fees: $87(R) $114(N) (5 classes) 103312 Mon-Fri Jun 12–16 9 a.m.–noon T1 Painting Summer Landscapes (age 11–16) Learn the impressionists and post-impressionists concepts of Cezanne, Monet, and van Gogh. Learn how to capture sunlight, create deep shadows, luminous color and more. Instructor: Eric McRay Fees: $87(R) $114(N) (5 classes) 102409 Mon-Fri Jun 12–16 9 a.m.–noon T1 Metal Mania (age 11–16) Hammer, saw, and fi le your way to a great piece of metal art! Using brass and copper sheet metal and wire, develop your own designs while exploring a variety of metalworking techniques. Create small sculptures/objects, jewelry, and mobiles. Instructor: Linda Simpson Fees: $90(R) $117(N) (5 classes) 103303 Mon-Fri Jun 12–16 1–4 p.m. T1 103304 Mon-Fri Aug 14–18 1–4 p.m. T3 Project Sea Turtle (age 11–16) Loggerhead, Green and Kemps Ridley visit our NC coast every summer. Learn their characteristics and habits to create 2–D and 3–D artworks. Students may choose to adopt a turtle that is being rehabilitated from injury at the Surf City Turtle Hospital. The adoption will help provide food and medicine until our turtle is ready to return to the sea. Instructor: Ginny O'Neal Fees: $87(R) $114(N) (5 classes) 102400 Mon-Fri Jun 12–16 1–4 p.m. T1 Slumber Party Fun (age 8–12) Sew a stuffed animal, pillow case, and pajama pants for a sleepover! Instructor: Lillian Maura Stewart Fees: $94(R) $122(N) (5 classes) 102435 Mon-Fri Jul 10–14 9 a.m.–noon T4 Fashionista Fun (age 8–12) Choose your fabric and sew a simple top and skirt for back to school. Prerequisite required: Sewing camp or class at the Cary Arts Center. Instructor: Dennell Warthen Fees: $94(R) $122(N) (5 classes) 102431 Mon-Fri Aug 7–11 9 a.m.–noon T3 Mermaid Beach Blanket (age 8–12) Want to feel more like a siren this summer? In this class we'll make a combo that's both a beach towel and a mermaid tail. Feel more like Ariel when you're soaking up the sun with these new fi ns! Instructor: Karaya McMurtray Fees: $94(R) $122(N) (5 classes) 102427 Mon-Fri Aug 7–11 1–4 p.m. T3 Sew Much Fun (age 8–12) Using colorful fabrics make one of a kind creations to keep or give as gifts. Students will learn a variety of hand and machine techniques. Projects include a crazy patch pillow and a cross body purse. Learn to sew and create your monster—accessories and all.
