LEGO ® Robotics Mission to Mars introduces students to the world of building and programming robots that can explore a distant planet. Campers share a computer with another camper. Location: Mills Park Elementary Instructor: Engineering for Kids Triangle Fees: $149(R) $179(N) (5 classes) 102978 Mon-Fri Aug 7–11 9 a.m.–noon T3 Robotics 101 (age 7–10) Campers learn basics of designing, programming, and controlling a functional robot. Using LEGO ® MINDSTORMS ® , mathematical concepts, and engineering principles campers brainstorm, plan, test, and modify sequences of instructions to accomplish tasks. Campers learn the sequence of communication between the robot and the programmer by collecting and analyzing data using the robot's sensors. Location: Middle Creek Community Center Instructor: Engineering for Kids Triangle Fees: $149(R) $179(N) (5 classes) 102920 Mon-Fri Aug 7–11 1–4 p.m. T3 Electronic Game Design: Racing Games (age 7–10) Campers create a video game using Multimedia Fusion 2 ® . Participants program their vehicle along with the opponent's vehicle to drive on and off the track as they compete to fi nish the race fi rst. Campers take home a copy of the game they create. Campers share a computer with another camper. Students will form their own construction crew and work together as a team to build a city. Crews will design essential urban structures, develop processes to purify water, and generate their own power. Join a crew to compete in challenges that will test the strength of your designs. Location: Herbert C. Young Community Center Instructor: Engineering for Kids Triangle Fees: $149(R) $179(N) (5 classes) 103364 Mon-Fri Aug 14–18 9 a.m.–noon T3 NEW! Poise Girls Entrepreneurs Camp (age 7–10) Campers will have the opportunity to design and create their own product brand and line of merchandise. Topics include sales, product branding, business, fi nance, and marketing concepts. Participants will develop their business plan, logo, company name, concept, and product line and have it ready to display and sell at a local retail or boutique shop. Location: Herbert C. Young Community Center Instructor: Tetnika Williamson Fees: $158(R) $188(N) (5 classes) 103189 Mon-Fri Jul 31–Aug 4 9 a.m.–noon T3 Electronic Game Design: Invader Defense-Alien Invasion (age 7–10) Campers will create an invader defense game to defend against an invasion using the Engineering Design Process to create a storyboard. Using Clickteam Fusion 2.5 ® they bring the storyboard to life with programming. Everyone takes home a Windows-compatible game (not compatible with Mac or Android). Campers share a computer with another camper. Location: Middle Creek Community Center Instructor:Engineering for Kids Triangle Fees: $149(R) $179 (5 classes) 102922 Mon-Fri Jul 31–Aug 4 1–4 p.m. T3 Kodu Kart Racing (age 7–10) Race to the fi nish and create your own racing game in Microsoft's Kodu gaming environment. From terrain design to enemy selection, students are placed at the wheel and given full control to design their game. Create your own video game while exploring the foundations of coding. Not compatible with Mac or Linux. Campers share a computer with another camper.
