Bond Park Lake The first ever Pumpkin Flotilla was a big success, with over 200 people in attendance. And thanks to good weather, the Boat House was able to be open to the public. Cary Teen Council In October, the Teen Council hosted the third annual Herbert's Haunted House. Over 400 people came to the event, raising more than $400 in profit for the Teen Council. This quarter, Teen Council provided 1,839 teen volunteers for a total of 4,504 hours. In December, the Teen Council hosted Santa's Workshop at Herb Young. There were craft stations for kids while waiting to visit Santa. Over 600 people attended the event. In November, Teen Council members donated 183 pounds of canned food items for the Food Bank. Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) This program, held year round at the Cary Senior Center, shows an increased spike during Medicare signup season (November-December). During this period, our 14 trained counselors spent 133 hours speaking to 180 senior residents guiding them through this important and sometimes complicated system. Annual Veterans Day Luncheon attracted 368 guests in 2016.
