22 June-August 2017 Cary Senior Center Education MUSIC LESSONS Music lessons have never been easier! Learn how to play a musical instrument under the tutelage of an experienced instructor. Seniors actively involved in music making show a decrease in anxiety, loneliness, and depression. Continuing Fiddle More great fiddle lessons for budding fiddlers! During this class you will learn a little of everything: tunes, technique, and music theory with an emphasis on Celtic tunes. You will need a violin and bow in good condition and should be able to play the A, D and G scales in good tune. This is a fun class where you learn to play well with others. This class will introduce you to an easy and fun instrument to learn and to play. We will first discuss how to buy an inexpensive ukulele. Playing the ukulele, besides being fun, helps develop use of hand and finger muscles to improve dexterity. You will learn a variety of simple songs on your ukulele and expand your musical horizons. You must be present on the first day of class or you will be withdrawn. Location: Classroom 302 Conversational Spanish Designed for students with some prior knowledge of Spanish, this course will help you develop conversational and reading strategies. The course includes group reading, discussions, dialogues, oral presentations and role play. Practice with weekly reviews of grammar and vocabulary as well as homework assignments. You must be present for the first day of class in order to take the series. Even if you've never studied French before, you can learn the foundations of French grammar and conversation in this 6-week class. Come learn the basics of French so you can fully enjoy traveling in this varied and beautiful country. In 6 weeks you will get a firm foundation of the French language taught with travel focus.
