82 REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org SAT Prep Class—Reading and Math (age 14–17) Class will focus on direct instruction of SAT math and reading concepts, SAT problem solving, test-taking strategies, practice, and confidence building. Class will help students gain 100–200 points on the SAT. One hour of reading and one hour of math per session. PSAT students are welcome to get a head start on preparation. Location: Herbert C. Young Community Center Instructor: Bobby Picha & Laurel Archer Fees: $187(R) $217(N) (6 classes) 104417 Sat Jul 15–Aug 19 2–4 p.m. Essays and Applications (rising high school seniors) Get a jump start on your college essays and applications before the rush of your senior year! Prepare to complete a draft of the Common Application or another college application and complete draft of essay that can be used for multiple applications. Location: Herbert C. Young Community Center Instructor: Rhonda Manns, A2Z College Planning Fees: $150(R) $180(N) (3 classes) 103926 Wed-Fri Aug 2–4 1–3 p.m. NEW! Education Babysitting Safely (age 11–14) Babysitting is serious business and a big responsibility. Be prepared and knowledgeable as an effective babysitter. Skills include first aid and safety, CPR overview, how to use an EpiPen, along with understanding developmental stages. Following a written and skills test, participants will receive a completion certificate. Location: Bond Park Community Center Instructor: Maria Mekeel, Registered Pediatric Nurse Fees: $50(R) $65(N) (2 classes) 104386 Wed, Thu Jun 21–22 6:30–9 p.m. ACT Math Test Prep (age 13–17) This class focuses exclusively on the six content areas covered by the ACT math test: pre-algebra, elementary algebra, intermediate algebra, coordinate geometry, plane geometry, and trigonometry. Students will learn concepts, practice actual ACT math problems, learn ACT test-taking tips, and build confidence in math. ACT book included. Location: Middle Creek Community Center Instructor: Bobby Picha Fees: $187(R) $217(N) (6 classes) 104366 Sat Jun 3–Jul 8 11 a.m.–1 p.m. c Special Interests Look for unique classes for a variety of interests offered just for you! A full credit will be granted upon receipt of a written request at least seven days prior to the first day of an art workshop, class, or camp. A $5 fee applies for a refund request.
