VISUAL ARTS PART TWO 38 REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org Woodworking Woodworking Basics (age 16 & up) BEGINNING LATHE—BASICS This class is an introductory course for beginning students. Learn the tools, techniques, and processes of turning wood on a lathe. A limited amount of turning stock is available for purchase from the Center. Supplies are not included. It combines power tool and hand tool techniques. Advanced skills like dovetailing, mortise and tenon joinery, and panel glue-ups will be practiced. Instructor: Charles Lankford Fees: $163(R) $193(N) (6 classes) 104260 Thu Jun 15–Jul 20 6–9:30 p.m. CURVED-LID KEEPSAKE BOX Simple to build for beginners but challenging enough for experienced woodworkers, an attractive curved-lid box can be used for jewelry, tea, or other keepsakes. Students will use the table saw, the router table, drills, and other power tools to build and finish this box. Supplies included.
