NATURE EDUCATION PART TWO 48 REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org Teen Nature Young Ecologists (age 10–13) Participants will build confidence and make new friends while expanding their knowledge and appreciation of the environment. Each session is primarily a field excursion with a classroom session relevant to a specific nature topic. Equipment provided. Fees: $12(R) $16(N) (1 class) SUMMER ANIMAL SURVEY Explore Swift Creek and the surrounding wetland as we search for snakes, salamanders, fish, and more. 104543 Sat Aug 26 10 a.m.–noon Hemlock Nature Quest (age 13–15) If you think your child has seen everywhere at Hemlock Bluffs, think again! These programs journey to far corners of the Preserve on a quest to find nature rarely seen by the public or other program participants. Dress for the weather and off-trail conditions. Bring your sense of adventure! (HNQ participants are eligible to volunteer as program assistants for our younger nature programs.) Fees: $12(R) $16(N) (1 class) NOCTURNAL WILDLIFE SURVEY Join us as we search for summer nocturnal wildlife. Equipment provided. 104544 Sun Jun 11 7–9 p.m. Adult Nature Adult Nature Programs (age 16 & up) Stretch your legs, clear your mind, and experience nature. You'll continue your lifelong learning through informative and educational nature walks that are focused on seasonal plant and wildlife activity. May involve some slow walking on steps. Location: Stevens Nature Center/Hemlock Bluffs Fees: $6(R) $8(N) (1 class) BIRDS AND BUGS We'll search for singing birds and the bugs they like to eat! Binoculars can be provided. 103934 Sat Jun 17 9–10:30 a.m. PLANT POWER Discover the incredible world of summer plant identification and also learn more about traditional plant uses. 103935 Sat Jun 24 10–11:30 a.m. Night Out in Nature (age 8–12) Kids are dropped off to spend a night out in nature making memories and new friends. Our adventures encourage the understanding and appreciation of the natural world at night. This old-fashioned camp-style program includes nature activities and crafts, night hikes, and campfire snacks around the fire pit. Each program has a different nature topic.
