SPORTS PART TWO 108 REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org Adult Recreational Fencing (age 18 & up) This class is for the adult fencer who already has some fencing experience. Fencers will be able to progress at their own pace. Club control, body control, and ball control will be covered. The focus will be on learning the basics, including footwork and blade skills needed for bouting. Location: Middle Creek Community Center Instructor: Apex Fencing Academy Fees: $135(R) $165(N) (9 classes) 106186 Thu Aug 31–Oct 19 7:15–8:15 p.m. This class has an end-of-session tournament on October 21. Fees: $119(R) $149(N) (8 classes) 106188 Thu Oct 26–Dec 14 7:15–8:15 p.m. This class has an end-of-session tournament on December 16. (no class Nov 23) Adult Beginning II Fencing (age 18 & up) Prerequisite: Fencing I or instructor's permission. Students will progress to more advanced footwork and blade skills. Fencers will start bouting with the electric scoring system. This is a great class for the recreational fencer. Students will be repeating this class. Location: Middle Creek Community Center Instructor: Apex Fencing Academy Fees: $145(R) $175(N) (8 classes) 106189 Mon Aug 28–Oct 16 7–8:30 p.m. This class has an end-of-session tournament on Oct. 21. (no class Sep 4) Fees: $159(R) $189(N) (9 classes) 106190 Mon Oct 23–Dec 11 7–8:30 p.m. This class has an end-of-session tournament on December 16. PICKLEBALL CLINICS Fencing Uniforms Practice uniforms are mandatory for all fencing classes. They may be rented for $50 or participants may provide their own. For more information, contact the instructor. Annual $10 USA Fencing membership must be purchased.
