Use acrylic paints to spray, stamp, splatter, scribble, and scrape paint. Color composition, and different styles of abstraction from cubism to minimalism will be explored. Composition, set-up, brush types and handling, color-mixing and theory, as well as several application methods such as underpainting, glazing, scumbling, and broken color will be presented. Hands-on exercises are designed to increase understanding of basic concepts. Supply list provided on receipt. Cuttlebone serves as mold- making material for small metal casting for the creation of jewelry and small sculptural objects. The beauty of sand casting is not only the characteristic granular texture it imports to the finished casting, but also the immediacy of its execution. Design and develop new projects of interest tackling projects such as band ring designs, cabochon stone setting, small objects, etc. Prerequisite: Beginning Metals/Jewelry class.
