Topics include basic and advanced, one and two point, and simplifying perspective; ways light affect architecture, simplifying complex architectural details; brush techniques for weathered wood, brick and tiles; and dealing with camera distortion. All skill levels welcomed. Jason Tako is a nationally recognized artist who has won numerous awards. Learn how to capture sunlight, create deep shadows, and luminous color. Create paintings using a limited palette, complimentary colors, and thick application of paint. Learn the basics of color mixing with primary and secondary colors; mixing a variety of greens to add interest to your landscapes; and working with compliments to gray colors. End the day with a small painting using what you have learned. Supply list provided on receipt. Learn about techniques and styles of cubism, fauvism, and pop art. Choose your favorite still-life subjects (floral, fruit, food, etc.) while expressing your personal sense of whimsy, humor, and tradition. Instructor: Eric McRay Fees: $104(R) $134(N) (6 classes) 105271 Mon Nov 13–Dec 18 7–9:30 p.m. ENCAUSTIC Introduction to Encaustic Painting (age 16 & up) Encaustic is an ancient painting medium. Colorful beeswax, melted to a liquid is painted with brushes. It hardens immediately and is fused with a heat gun. Processes and techniques such as scraping, incising, transfer, and collate will be used to create unique paintings that can be very textual or smooth like glass. Supplies included.
