Cary Heritage Museum at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center Visit the Cary Heritage Museum to experience Cary's metamorphosis from a railroad village to a high-tech community. Feel the ambiance of the Town a century ago as you view a scale model of the village, meet Cary's founding family, and learn about the Union General from Ohio for whom our Town was named. See the development of the Cary community from a one-square- mile area in 1871 to a 55 square-mile area today. A timeline comprised of two-and three-dimensional artifacts provides historic perspective by presenting local, national, and international events side-by-side. Ongoing programming helps to link the past to the present. "Cary-On!" is a study guide for teachers and students interested in learning more about Cary; it is available free of charge. Bring your group to the Page-Walker Arts & History Center for a tour—great for scouts, seniors, newcomers, and other community groups. Or you can learn to become a tour guide yourself! Guided History Tours of the Page-Walker and Downtown Cary Groups of 5–25 people can request a customized guided tour of the Page-Walker Arts & History Center, including the historic Page-Walker Hotel, the Anne B. Kratzer Educational Garden, and parts of downtown Cary for $5 per person. Call (919) 462-3963 to schedule. c Page-Walker Arts & History Center The Page-Walker was built circa 1868 as a railroad hotel by Town of Cary founder Allison Francis Page and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A renovation in the 1990s converted the building into an arts and history center. Alive with classes, events, performances, receptions and meetings, the Page-Walker boasts fine arts exhibitions in two galleries, Educational Gardens, the Page Smokehouse, and the Cary Heritage Museum.
