5 Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Visual Arts Feed your creativity through visual arts— there's something for everyone! All courses held at the Cary Arts Center unless noted. Ceramics Sculpting Animals in Clay for Teens (age 11–16) Students will work from scaled Schleich models of different animals while receiving instruction in figurative sculpting using water-based clay while being encouraged to explore their own style. Emphasis will be on improving individual sculpting skills, including the ability to see and interpret from a model. Instructor: Kim Marchesseault Fees: $61(R) $79(N) (4 classes) 111146 Wed Jan 10–31 7–9 p.m. A Painting a Day (age 11–15) Learn about color mixing, composition, and painting techniques as you create a simple acrylic painting in each class. No prior painting experience needed. All skill levels are welcome. Experiment with gutta, salt, and alcohol techniques and walk away with a colorful, washable, wearable work of art. Instructor: Kim Marchesseault Fees: $39(R) $51(N) (3 classes) 110381 Mon Mar 5–19 6:30–8 p.m. Begin to Draw Designs and Lines (age 11–15) Learn how to look at objects from a different viewpoint and draw more realistically. Explore a different drawing element during each session while completing a black and white study with your choice of dry media. Bring a 9x12 or similar sketchbook for each class.
