VISUAL ARTS PART TWO REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org 45 Advanced Study in Wheel Throwing (age 16 & up) This advanced level class will improve your technical mastery on the wheel and help you move to a new level in design and execution. Demonstrations of advanced throwing techniques will include a variety of different kinds of vessels. We'll explore more complicated forms and ways to combine hand-built and thrown pieces so you can find your unique style. Apply enamel to a small, pre-cut copper shape to create an original pendant, bracelet, or pair of earrings. Copper pieces are purchased from the Center and kiln-fired by instructor during this workshop. Explore a variety of media as you address formal, conceptual, and technical issues in pursuit of your own vision. Beginners or experienced artists welcome. Instructor: Michael Polomik Fees: $70(R) $91(N) (4 classes) 109431 Thu Jan 11–Feb 1 7–9:30 p.m. Intermediate Drawing (age 16 & up) Following a brief rundown of basics, you're guided through exercises intended to sharpen your perception and then you will take part in continuing discussions that cover more in-depth color use, the benefits of higher grade materials, how to use non-traditional media, how to incorporate multiple media, as well as miscellaneous tips and tricks. Drawing Manga Characters and Fantastic Creatures (age 14 & up) Building from the archetypes and styles from Japanese animators and comic book artists, students will design and sketch heroes, antagonists, and unique beasts to aid or oppose them in their own illustrations, graphic stories, or webcomics.
