SPORTS PART TWO REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org 109 Mini Intros & NTC Academy Minis Mini Intros are small group lessons for the beginner just starting out. NTC Academy Minis are for the high level player who is working on a new skill or position. In smaller groups, instructors can provider greater attention to each player, helping the player develop the needed skill set. The dates and focus areas of Minis will be released monthly, and will be limited to four players, unless otherwise noted. They can be booked through the Town of Cary EZ-Reg system and will be added online on the 25th of each month prior to the date of the Mini. For example, March lessons will become available February 25. Fees are $15 per 60 minutes of instruction or $20 per 90 minutes of instruction. For more, email TOCinstructors@townofcary.org. The Pitcher & Catcher Positions—Beginner (age 8–17) Pitchers will be introduced to the windmill pitch, focusing on isolating the mechanics of the pitch and with emphasis on throwing a fastball. They will also learn proper stride, proper plant and drag, and drills for developing a pitching plane/power line. Catchers will learn proper positioning, glove work, blocking, movement towards the ball, throw-downs, and footwork. Catching equipment will be provided. You will be asked to indicate whether you are a pitcher or a catcher upon registration. Location: Mills Park Softball Field Instructor: Town of Cary Softball Instructors Fees: $30(R) $39(N) (1 class) 111075 Sun Mar 4 1–2:30 p.m. Hitting Skills & Techniques— Intermediate (age 10–17) If you are an experienced player and have confi dence in the batter's box, this is the clinic for you. You will learn how to improve your swing to accomplish stronger contact, hit placement, and bat speed. Location: Mills Park Softball Field Instructors: Town of Cary Softball Instructors Fees: $30(R) $39(N) (1 class) 111074 Sat Mar 3 10–11:30 a.m. Softball The Pitcher & Catcher Positions—Intermediate (age 11–17) This clinic reinforces proper pitching mechanics and introduces drills to increase pitch speed and power generated from legs and core. Also covered is proper grip and the spin and body rotation for change-ups and movement pitches (if the player is ready for those pitches). For catchers, this clinic reviews solid positioning, framing, blocking, and footwork. We will also work on bunt coverage, diving for balls, throwing from the knees, fast pops, throw-downs, and how to be a leader on the fi eld. Location: Mills Park Softball Field Instructor: Town of Cary Softball Instructors Fees: $30(R) $39(N) (1 class) 111076 Sun Mar 4 2:30–4 p.m. One-on-One Softball Lessons The Town of Cary offers year-round 1-on-1 softball lessons from qualifi ed instructors for youth ages 7–17. Lessons are $30 per half hour or $45 per hour. Schedule a hitting, fi elding, or pitching lesson today. Lessons can be booked through the Town of Cary EZ-Reg system. Lesson availability will be added onto EZ-Reg each month starting on the 25th of each month prior. (For example, March lessons will become available February 25.) PRIVATE INSTRUCTION A full credit will be granted upon receipt of a written request at least seven days prior to the fi rst day of an art workshop, class, or camp. A $5 fee applies for a refund request. REFUNDS/WITHDRAWALS In case of inclement weather, the decision to play or not will be made by the Sports Staff. Information will be on the Town website at http:// games.townofcarync.gov/. A recording will also be on the Weather Cancellation Line at (919) 319- 4500. Updates are made at 3 p.m. each weekday, 7 a.m. on Saturday, and noon on Sunday. If a decision is made after these times, it will be announced by the offi cials at the facility. INCLEMENT WEATHER
