SPECIALIZED RECREATION PART TWO 138 REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org Performing Arts Good Vibrations (age 11 & up) Drumming using Djembes (African hand drums), flat hand-held drums, and percussion instruments help with focusing, hyperactivity, coordination, cooperation, listening skills, and brain integration. Not to mention it is a lot of fun! We'll add in some cool beats and rhythms and make music together. Instruments provided. Location: Page-Walker Arts & History Center Instructor: Dori Staehle Fees: $45(R) $59(N) (4 classes) 111332 Wed Feb 7–28 4–4:45 p.m. Acting Inclusive (age 11 & up) Introduce yourself to the world of acting and begin to develop the tools needed to perform onstage—volume, physical storytelling, and character building. Work with a group of your peers to create scenes that you can perform in class. Location: Cary Arts Center Instructor: TBA Fees: $29(R) $38(N) (4 classes) 110520 Sat Apr 14–May 5 10–11:30 a.m. Outdoor Recreation Zip Line Adventure (age 11 & up) This program is designed specifically for individuals with special needs. Ride the 35-feet high, 200-feet long zip line in Bond Park! Safety gear is used to keep participants safe. Instruction and assistance provided. Participants must be able to communicate and move independently over uneven terrain. Location: Fred G. Bond Metro Park; Ropes Course Shelter Instructor: Program Staff Fees: $19(R) $25(N) 111181 Sat Mar 17 1–3 p.m. Family Time at the Challenge Course (age 11 & up) This class is for participants with special needs and their families. Enjoy time together, bring your family, and show them what teambuilding is all about! Location: Fred G. Bond Metro Park; Ropes Course Shelter Instructor: Program Staff Fees: $9(R) $12(N) 111182 Wed Apr 18 4:30–6 p.m. High Course Adventure with a Buddy (age 11 & up) This program is designed specifically for individuals with special needs. Bring a buddy and challenge yourself on the 35-foot high adventure course. Must be able to climb a ladder and balance on cables. Buddies must be able to assist with safety equipment. Location: Fred G. Bond Metro Park; Ropes Course Shelter Instructor: Program Staff Fees: $25(R) $33(N) 111185 Sat May 19 9 a.m.–1 p.m. Boating (age 11 & up) Come out to Bond Park and enjoy being on the water!
