GALLERY EXHIBITIONS PART ONE REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org 23 Granpaparazzi Photography Club Exhibition Cary Senior Center Tuesday, April 24—Friday May 18 Artists' Reception Friday, April 27 | 5–7 p.m. Medium: Photography Granpaparazzi Photography Club was formed in the spring of 2011 as a collection of avid photographers and those wanting to learn more about their cameras, specifically digital cameras. For more about the club, join the group on the fourth Thursday each month from 1:30–3:30 p.m. in classroom 302 in the Cary Senior Center. May Trish Klenow: The Four Seasons Bond Park Community Center Tuesday, May 2—Saturday, June 30 Artist Reception: June 29 | 6:30–8:30 p.m. Media: Oil on Canvas The series is inspired by the forces of nature and the changing of seasons. The paintings show figures and animals literally connected to their landscapes, bodies dissolve into spores, fireflies, and petals. Each dreamy painting evokes the mood of a season; the quiet sleep of winter, the joy and color of spring, the languid sweat of summer, and the inspiring change of autumn. Helen Seebold & Erin Lawler: Sacred Meditations Herbert C. Young Community Center Gallery Friday, April 27—Saturday, June 23 Artist Reception: Friday, April 27 | 6–8 p.m. Medium: Mixed Media Sisters Seebold and Lawler present us with a mixed-media exhibition, with hands and angels featured prominently in this exhibit. Seebold's Celtic Angels are inspired by the decorative illustrations found in Medieval Illuminated Manuscripts reflecting on their role as messengers. Lawler's intricate drawings convey our human connection to nature. Mercedes Jelinek: These Americans Cary Arts Center Gallery Friday, April 27—Saturday, June 23 Artist Reception: Friday, April 27 | 6–8 p.m. Artist Gallery Talk: Friday, April 27 | 6:30 p.m. Medium: Photography These Americans is a series of photographs depicting the Women's March on Washington, D.C., in January of 2017. These photographs reflect the various ways individuals expressed their anger, humor, sadness, and hope. This day demonstrated that individuals are willing to stand up for what they believe and these photographs act as evidence. The Wing'ed Pen: In Whose Flight the Soul's Expression Soars by Ann Erickson Cary Arts Center Principal's Hall Friday, April 27—Saturday, June 23 Artist Reception: Friday, April 27 | 6–8 p.m. Medium: Calligraphy A versatile collection of calligraphic quotes in many alphabet styles rendered in various media, such as 24K gold leaf, gouache, Chinese stick ink, and embossing on surfaces such as handmade paper, sheepskin vellum, and hot press watercolor paper.
