Drum Camp (age 8–11) Discover drums and percussion music from around the planet. Learn about folkloric music from the village, engage in creative self-expression, and participate in ancient traditions that foster fun and promote wellness. Instruments are provided. Camp ends with a performance for parents and friends. Taught by veteran bluegrass musicians, this camp builds musical skills and confidence, with creativity and collaboration. Camp culminates in an evening performance on Jun 22. Campers provide own instruments. Combine morning and afternoon camps for a full-day experience! Co-sponsored by Pinecone (www.pinecone.org). Fees: $93(R) $121(N) (5 classes) BEGINNING BLUEGRASS FIDDLE For campers who have studied violin but are not comfortable with tuning, bowing and finding notes on a fingerboard. Helpful if student can already play a simple song or two. We'll cover basic bluegrass style and bowing tips and tricks, and prepare a tune or two for the performance. Instructor: Pattie Kinlaw 112792 Mon–Fri Jun 18–22 9 a.m.–noon T1 BLUEGRASS MANDOLIN This camp will challenge both beginner and more experienced mandolin students. Helpful if campers already know at least G, D, and A chords and can play a simple song. A great opportunity to learn and improve mandolin technique. We will prepare an arrangement or two for final performance. Instructor: Charles Pettee 112794 Mon–Fri Jun 18–22 9 a.m.–noon T1 Improv Comedy (age 13–18) Learn the basics of sketch comedy, from building character relationships, settings, and scenes, to playing off your and others' ideas. Perform with your team on the last day of camp.
