PARKS PART THREE 102 REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org c Cary Greenways With over 80 miles of greenways throughout the town, Cary links neighborhoods, parks, schools, and open spaces and also connects to the expansive Triangle Greenway system. Our greenways are an environmental, economic, and recreational resource for all to enjoy. Greenways enhance our lives in many ways by: • Providing a recreational amenity for walking, jogging, and bicycling in a natural setting • Preserving pristine open space to enhance Cary's quality of life • Linking our neighborhoods with parks, schools, community centers, and other neighborhoods • Controlling stormwater runoff, curb erosion, and minimizing flooding • Improving Cary's water quality by buffering streams, filtering pollutants, and recharging our groundwater Most trails are paved and generally located in floodplain areas and along wooded stream corridors. The standard greenway trail is 10-foot-wide asphalt. Cary greenways and trails are open from sunrise to sunset. Keep in mind when trying to locate a greenway trail that parking is not always available and parking on streets may be required to access trails. Please be considerate of private property nearby when parking. Pick up your copy of Cary's Bike & Hike map at any Town-staffed facility or visit bit.ly/2fN9FIx to download the mobile app.
