VISUAL ARTS PART TWO 38 REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org Painting Sunflowers in Watercolors: Intermediate (age 16 & up) In this intermediate class, students will use watercolors to paint 1/2 sheet paintings of sunflowers in different compositions. Bring your own watercolor supplies. Paper is available for $1.25 per class. Prerequisite: Beginning Watercolors class. Instructor: Roxanna (Rocky) Alexander Fees: $73(R) $95(N) (4 classes) 114373 Tue Jul 10–31 1–3:30 p.m. Introductory Watercolor (age 16 & up) Learn about the qualities of watercolor. Receive a thorough presentation of the basics: set-up, brush handling, washes and glazes, color-mixing, wet-on-dry, wet-on-wet, and dry-brush applications. Students will be guided through a series of hands-on exercises designed to increase understanding of the concepts. Beginners or anyone wanting a refresher are welcome. Supply list provided on receipt. Instructor: Michael Polomik Fees: $73(R) $95(N) (4 classes) 114368 Thu Jul 12–Aug 2 7–9:30 p.m. Beach and Sand, Lakes and Sea (age 16 & up) In this intermediate class, students will learn techniques to paint sand and waves. Several medium-sized paintings will be made. Bring your own watercolor supplies. Paper is available for $1.25 per class. Prerequisite: Beginning Watercolors class. Understanding exposure is more important to a good photograph than equipment. Learn the ABCs and discover how to move from the "Auto" setting and take control for better pictures. Bring your DSLR, mirrorless, or point-and-shoot camera with manual settings. Monet did it. And now we are going to do it. Draw a still life! Gain knowledge on how to look at traditional objects in innovative ways while honing in on one's oil pastel techniques and drawing capabilities. From beginner to advanced, all levels are welcome!
