Summer Nights in Spain Saturday, June 23 | 7:30 p.m. Vinay Parameswaran, Conductor Ana Vidovic, Guitar Flamenco Dancer The delicate warmth of the classical guitar and the passion of flamenco dancing will transport you to Spain with Rimsky-Korsakov's Capriccio espagnol, three dances from de Falla's Three-Cornered Hat, Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez, and more! The Music of Tom Petty Saturday, July 14 | 7:30 p.m. Ruth Reinhardt, Conductor Daniel Hsu, Piano Celebrate the life and music of rock icon Tom Petty with a singer and full rock band joining the Symphony to perform favorites like Learning to Fly, Free Falling, American Girl, and You Wreck Me. Annual Beach Party Saturday, July 21 | 7:30 p.m. This Summerfest tradition brings the legendary North Tower Band to the stage to make the whole family smile, sing along, and dance on the lawn until the stars come out. Superheroes Save Summerfest! Saturday, June 2 | 7:30 p.m. Stuart Chafetz, Conductor Superheroes always get the coolest capes, the coolest cars, and the coolest theme songs! Everyone wins when we bring you some of the most memorable superhero themes from blockbusters like Superman, Batman, Spider- Man, and Supergirl. Plus, you can meet and take pictures with costumed characters from the all-volunteer 501st Legion! This is a family fun event. Glen Miller to Gershwin: Jump, Jive & Swing! Saturday, June 30 | 7:30 p.m. Wesley Schulz, Conductor North Carolina Jazz Repertory Orchestra The big band meets the orchestra with hits by Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, and Cole Porter, along with the sparkling An American in Paris by George Gershwin. Dance your way through big band, boogie-woogie, and jump blues with the Symphony and the NC Jazz Repertory Orchestra. Blind Boys of Alabama Saturday, June 9 | 7:30 p.m. Wesley Schulz, Conductor The unique sound and spirit of The Blind Boys of Alabama have landed them multiple Grammy awards, a Lifetime Achievement Grammy, and induction into the Gospel Hall of Fame, as well as performances in the White House for three different presidents. This is an event you don't want to miss! Romantic Russian Nights Saturday, July 7 | 7:30 p.m. Ruth Reinhardt, Conductor Daniel Hsu, Piano Hear the rousing dance music of Tchaikovsky and Borodin framing the sweet melancholy of Rachmaninoff's delicate Vocalise. Twenty-year-old piano virtuoso Daniel Hsu joins the Symphony to perform a fiery showpiece, Rachmaninoff's Third Piano Concerto. LIVE MUSIC UNDER THE STARS
